I see England, I see France

Last week I saw an old episode of Moonlighting. the name of the episode was I see England, I see France, I see Maddie's netherworld. It immediately struck me as probably being a paraphrase, so I searched for that phrase barring the netherworld-part, and got tons of hits. I gather it's a 'teasing rhyme' (if that be the term) and that the last part of it would normally be I see (name)'s underpants. But even that sounds like a paraphrase to me, as if the origin was oh I don't know - a Churchill speech or something... "I see England, I see France, united in ..." etcetera. (Just fantasizing.)

Does anyone know anything about the origin - or if the rhyme is the origin.

Thanks in advance and for now, more personal thanks sometime next week.

Wow, you could really lose yourself in that Echoes... very calming, won't be needing my sheep tonight Jeeves. "you sold our hearts"
morning all, I have been having a REALLY frustrating time lately, I tried to upload myself an aviator and failed, after that either couldn't get in to either ver of AB or could get in to read but not sign in so couldn't post....grrrrrr
Anyway how is everyone? we are all fine here, pups are now allowed to go out on walks so peace reigns here a bit more often.
Pups are half weimaraner (mum) and half german shorthaired pointer, the product of an accidental mating. What sold them to us finally was the wonderful temperament of both mum and dad.
Have wizzed quickly through the thread before I get kicked off again, it sounds like you have been having a good time...I gto one invite via the sports answerbank which I didn't know existed...said yes (never turn dwn an invite!!)
see you all later if I can get in
good evening...(just balancing the day out before Sweedie comes in)

hi woofy, I forget all about beta until someone mentions it...which the staff on here never do...I always thought there should be a cheesy welcome on the front page from the Ed...you know, like there is in the Woman's Weekly next to 10 handy things you can do with a darning mushroom...tut

well that's my twitching report done for this year - not a bad result but could have been better...never mind
I tried my best

erm, I've been meaning to ask ....where exactly are we? Sweden? France? England? US? I like to know my place.

sigh ...here I am wide awake and it isn't even three in the afternoon yet (you impudent primates ;-) but that's how it goes when you have to make Singapore phone calls - they're quite a few hours ahead of us. It's my eldest half sister's birthday today so I've been chasing her and finally got through. They're settling in, haven't received their own furniture from Sweden yet but they like where they live, in a nice apartment on the thirteenth (!) floor of a thirty floor building (!)

I met a Weimaraner on the sidewalk this autumn, woofy, talked to her master, he said when they stop at the pedestrian crossing light she will get up on her hind legs to push the button.

Where we are, Robinia, well, since Bruce Willis isn't in I'm assuming we're at the Blue Moon Detective Agency in Los Angeles 'cos he never was in in the series either. Makes sense to me. There's got to be some logical reason why Bruce isn't here, right.

Blue Moon Detective Agency

Oh it is three in the afternoon... he he...
Afternoon biddybabes.
thats my bird watching done.It was lovely and sunny on the beach to.we had a sand storm that blew over from n.africa and covered all the cars,it usually happens in the summer ?.!

hmm, I tried to look something up on that website, Vinny, but it wasn't there... dum de dum... sitting at work, complete systems crash - I can get onto AB but can't get onto our own website (which I am supposed to be tending) or any other internal system. People are making their own entertainment, holding quizzes... I expect there'll be banjo recitals soon
well I was perusing it & thought it said Longest Biddie Streak...I thought that Spanish trollop must have been at it 'cos she's not in here again...have we upset her or is she just too busy being fabulous?

Why do some people take an instant aversion to banjo players?
It saves time in the long run.
(hehe, Tarquin's got a banjo - I've heard all of the jokes)

So you finally surfaced then Kit? I didn't realise this was one of those late night clubs...you should have put a notice on the door

Yo

ha, that sounds like the Scottish definition of a gentleman as one who can play the bagpipes... and doesn't.

Hola amigos - here I is (in the famous words of Robinia) - been frantically busy doing nothing so haven't been able to get on here. In truth the bl**dy site ******* up my computer after a few mins and I was getting totally fed up and old hubby person was getting fed up with the computer always needing rebooting. When will they sort it? Now we've had a glimpse of Utopia (avatars) we shall want it always, but for heaven's sake at least get this old site sorted. Be back later.
<< tut tut - language neti old girl!!> > can't remember what the word was now but it really wasn't rude, probably b*ggered!
good evening...glad you're still with us neti...the place is empty without you both, hehe
I was going to ask if the site's gone slow again, 4 out of 5 times I can't get into my profile before it's timed out, grrr.

Tarquin left his banjo on show in the back of his car while he went shopping...when he came back someone had broken into it & left him another one...

well, booger I, I've forgotten what I was going to say....

dummm de dummm......

nope, s'gone...never mind....

don't you know it's rude to stare

Well I can't seem to get into the rest of the site - whatever is happening???
well I'm back again minus an inch of hair...(from my head Vincent, leave it) but it took ages to get the door open & some of the categories/threads take even longer.

what's worse than footy?
Americans taking over & calling it 'sarkurrrr'....grrr, shoot me now...

SORRY Jude but it's all we'll be hearing on local radio for the next howeverlongtheylast...where's Devon radio on the dial & me phrasebook?....should be good for a laugh...

Good morning possums. Reading through last night's posts: "Night games", Robinia...? Me...? Yeah I'm your regular wild thang

Speaking of instruments that (like the banjo) have the capacity to drive people up the wall, I just have to show y'all this weird old instrument that Swedes like to play, the key harp Did you ever see anything like it?? I suppose it takes some getting used to... but I like it. If you want to read about it, there's some info here The piece the girl on YouTube plays is called Josephine's Christening Waltz.

Don't worry, Neti and jno, Vinny is on his way over to have a look at your putas. he's good you know

What instrument is Cyndi Lauper playing here? Love that song... (I'm not quizzing you, I'm truly asking.)
