Does Heathcliff have only one name (like Cher and Madonna)? Is that because he is an orphan?

Yes he only has that one name. When he grows up and has money they call him Mr Heathcliff
When Mr Earnshaw finds Heathcliff he doesnt speak english (I think he is meant to be an Irish orphan) so they give him the name Heathcliff. Naming him after a son of theirs who died in infancy.
