Im flying from Vietnam to Cambodia on the 1st August for a week then Bangkok and home to see me mammy after 9 months away on the 11th August. Very exciting - roast chicken dinner mmmmmmmmmm !
August 1st is Yorkshire Day, though I've never been entirely sure what it involves. Anyway this year the celebrations are centred on Penistone, so have fun if you're going.
Penistone is a lovely area of Yorkshire. I live about 20 minutes away. Barnsley, despite the connortations of flat caps and miners' lamps, is one of the most warm-hearted towns in the whole of the UK.
Altogether now:
I being a resident of the West Riding of Yorkshire declare;
that Yorkshire is three Ridings and the City of York, with these Boundaries of 1124 years standing;
that the address of all places in these Ridings is Yorkshire;
that all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshire-men and women;
that any person or corporate body which deliberately ignores or denies the aforementioned shall forfeit all claim to Yorkshire status.
These declarations made this Yorkshire Day. God Save the Queen.
Dot - Cragg Vale - very nice, I know that pub down the lane by the bridge (Hinchcliffe Arms ?) - you are indeed entitled to recite the Yorkshire Declaration of Integrity.
