can anyone recommend a book in English on the fauna and flora of the Haute Vienne/Limousin region of France

Unless someone comes up with anything better, you could try and write to the Herbarium, which is the library of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. The library is not open to the public but they might be able to reply with a, perhaps short, list of books on plants in that region (they don't specialise on animals though).
