Female Werewolf?

Hi all

I'm trying to remember the name of a book that I read about 12 years ago. It was borrowed to me from a friend so may have been years older. The storyline is about a female werewolf who tries to survive the big city that she lives in. I'm not sure if there are other werewolves in the book but I do remember the story being quite graphic, well it was graphic to me when I was 14/15.
I'm guessing that it's an American book and I don't think it was a series.
I know it's quite vague but any help would be great. It's not Bitten as I already have that book
