I've managed to get acylic paint over my fingernails - and under them. Any tips for removing it will be very welcome. (I wouldn't mind so much if it was a pretty pale pink - but dark green? I don't think so!!). :o)

Thanks for your answers.

In a Pickle , I wash my brushes in water too, but usually the paint on them is still quite wet. I've tried soaking my fingers in warm water, but the paint won't shift. Serves me right for getting carried away with a sponge I suppose!!!!

kjc, I'll try that. Thanks.

By the way, do either of you use barrier cream before you start work? I wondered if that might help prevent the problem happening in future. Failing that, I think I'll wear surgical gloves for sponge work!!

Oh yes, I definitely know what I'm painting with. I don't have the problem with brush work, but I was doing a large area with a sponge. I've got the paint off my hands, and mostly off the tops of my nails now, but I've squidged it under my (fairly long) nails and I can't get it out. Looks awful!! Oh well, it's different!!

Latest news on the painted lady ....... nail varnish remover it is! (Although it's not easy to get it right down under the nails where the nail joins the finger, so I've still got a bit there that I'll work on).

Thanks kjc - and thanks for your answers too In A Pickle.

Sounds just the thing. Get pouring Pickle! :o)
Do you remember the old Palmolive washing up liquid advert?

The manicurist soaked the customers nails in it, and swore it was good for them.

Question Author
No. I don't remember that, Panic. Don't suppose such advice would go down too well now - although I'm sure it's better than green acrylic paint!
I'm showing my age

The customer lifted her fingers out , saying 'washing up liquid?'

The manicurist pushed her hand back in saying 'Palmolive!'

Fairy hit back with the song
'For hands that do dishes are as soft as your face, with mild green - Fairy Liquid'

Ah - those were the days.
Question Author
Now you mention it, I remember the jingle, but not the advert. Maybe I'm just getting forgetful. ;o)

Night everyone. x
