by Jung Chang , a brilliant book , and I am trying to buy a copy
in Mandarin , as my friend is chinese but her english reading
is not too good . Anyone have a clue ??? tia

No but Liang Shih-Chiu is widely available in bi-lingual print, he is a very good writer.
If you like that sort of book look for an author called Xinran, she's very good, try "The Good Women Of China", "China Witness" and "Sky Burial,"

thanks for that but she really wants to read Wild Swans
as she was a teenager and had to work in the fields as
part of the Chairman Mao revolution

Meant to add I'm reading "Lovers In The Age Of Indifference" by Xialou Guo as a bedtime book, that should be easily available in Chinese.

Have a look at this from Amazon - the review near the bottom of the page suggests that you might be able to get it in a library with an Asian section.

The first two Xinran books will be of interest to her, she may be difficult to find as she is quite critical of the P.R.C and leans heavily towards neo-traditionalism.
Xialou Guo's latest book may interest her also, as it's about ordinary modern Chinese people, very Sino centric for the foreign reader though, if you don't know China you won't really get much out of it.
Look for "Factory Girls" you may like it.

Two foreign language booksellers we buy from at our library:

http://www.grantandcutler.com/ - mainly European, but they stock a range of books in other languages too.

http://www.mantraling...portal/bilingual.html - predominantly children's books, but some of the older children's titles may be suitable (depending on how old your friend is).

Both places, if they can't help, may be able to point to you to other sellers. It's also worth trying the local library - they may have sources you never dreamed of.

Get "The Road Home" on D.V.D, stars Zhang Ziyi, you can get it at Amazon, Mandarin with English subtitles.
