Book Title!

I am trying to find a book that I read a while ago but my memory is terrible and I cant remember what it is called or really much about it! Apart from that I really liked it!!
There are two families who have a son each, one dies. The father of the dead boy keeps close with the other family, and the boy loves him, sees him as an unlce. When the boy is older he gets involved in drugs, possible prostitution, cross dressing. It is based quite heavily around art... The boy at one points move into the "uncles" flat but causes trouble. The boys father dies in his studio....Erm I cant really remember a whole lot more about it but if anyone knows what it is please let me know!!
