Dry hair

My hair has been quite dry recently - does anyone have any recommendations for cheap products that make your hair soft? My hair used to always be soft, don't know why it's changed! It might just be due to the cold weather.

There is a product called Coconut Oil bp and it's old fashioned.... but it works and it's cheap.

Your local chemist should stock it, but if not, it's available on the internet. Amazon and various online chemists :)

Use a Hot oil or Protein Reconstructor. Apply to washed, damp hair, cover with a plastic shower cap or clingfilm and either sit under a hood dryer or in a steam room.

I was told by a hairdresser once that you should always buy expensive shampoos like Charles Worthington and Trevor Sorbie(sp) but I would just look at shampoos that are middle range i.e Pantene and choose one that promises soft hair.Also a good idea to use conditioner as well.

only thing is, i don't have access to a steam room or a hood dryer lol.

No hood dryer, then you can buy, relatively cheaply a type of hood, which is soft and goes over the head. It has a tube attached, which you insert the nozzle of a regular hand held dryer and the hood part will inflate with the air and heat from the dryer, heating the hair too.

If thats not an option, then just wrap the hair with treatment on in clingfilm and hold a hair dryer a few inches from the head, kepping it moving, so the heat is distributed evenly. Do this for 10 minutes or so.

You want it cheap.....make it yourself.

Look for cheapest liquid cream (baby lotion will do) and mix with shampoo.....leave in hair for 10mins with plastic bag over head (to heat). Rinse off.

I don't know why, but hot oil treatments seem to make my hair go heavy and "stringy". Maybe it's because I use too much, since my hair's very long.
Anyway, for a quick revival, I use Elvive shampoo and Pantene's Ice Shine conditioner. Works brilliantly.
