Can't get rid of my stomach!
Hi all, I am having trouble getting rid of my stomach fat and would love some tips. I have a small frame and am trim all over except my stomach, I can't do the conventional stomach exercises as I have had 2 C-sections and my stomach has lost a lot of strength.
I have tried sit ups but the muscles I have just don't work properly and even my doctor thinks I have excessive scar tissue that is causing problems!
Any tips would be great
Thanks xx

It's good because there are several levels of each exercise so you do whatever you feel you can. The nature of Pilates means that everything you do works your core even when you don't think it is. It did it for several years and really enjoyed it, plus my core and arms were quite strong.
However, from a general POV I prefer Yoga these days, as it has more holistic benefits aside from the physical workout, and actually helps you understand your body's strengths and weaknesses and helps you be more accepting of what you have. So although it won't necessarily eliminate the stomach fat (which is the hardest area of the body to tone anyway!), it might just make you feel better about it!

i'm not sure what it's called but can you not buy one of those apperatus to help you do sit ups? i have a bad back and i can only do them if i use one of them.
Also just holding your tummy in helps to tone it up a little, i started doing it a few years ago and it was a bit of a effort at first but now i just do it without even thinking

Get a '6 second abs' device. The exercise is done in a sitting position and is really good for anyone with back or strength problems.

Did you see 'Embarrassing bodies' this week?
There was a lady with a similar problem; this was caused by the muscles not returning to normal after 3 pregnancies. She had to have an operation to stitch the two sets of muscles together in the centre and this corrrected the problem.
She was very slim and fit but looked as if she were about 6 months pregnant.

i mate of mine told me he tied a string tightly around his waist.
the idea was that if he relaxed the tummy muscles, it dug in and was uncomfortable, so he had to tense up and hold it in all the time ... then he just went about his day...he said over time this tightened up the muscle but put no strain on it or on bones etc.
you shouldnt do it all day long though, just as long as you can.
might be worth a try
