A good friend of mine has just been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. I want to tell him that with treatment everything will be ok but can anyone tell me how serious this disease is and can it be treated? Thanks.S.O.G

Sqad is AB's medical expert but this might also help:

I've chosen to link directly to the 'treatment' page but you may wish to look at the other links in black, as well as the 'Real stories' link.

Big C update. Thank you all for your replies. Just yesterday my pal was told that an operation was not possible because,1,he is too old (75),2,he is not fit enough to endure an eight hour long operation. He has been told that the cancer can be controlled with tablets (drugs?) but for how long no one can say. I just felt that I should let you all know of the latest update as you as all of you have been very helpfull. All the very best to you all.S.O.G
