Thanks to each and everyone of you especially Old Salt for his lengthy reply, and if Squad is still lurking somewhere my medication at present is Lisinopril 20mg, I was taken off Amlodipine 10mg in April which was replaced by Bendrflumethiazide 21.5mg, And I have just finished one month's course of Atenolol 50mg last week, I don't smoke, I only go out for a drink about twice a month, although I know I should do more exercise it is difficult with no diaphragm to get a sweat up. I am going back next week to see my old doctor instead of one of the newbies so I will see what he has to say.
moony......you have uncontrolled hypertension and there certainly has been many good suggestions in this thread.

My advice........ask your GP if you could be referred to a Consultant Physician at your local hospital.

All the drugs that you are taking are "old fashioned" but still very effective, but unfortunately not in your case.....the newer, but more expensive group of drugs, seem to be better in patients with unstable or uncontrolled hypertension.

Hi Squad, Thanks for your reply I will certainly ask about this when I see my doctor next week, after all they don't seem to be able to get it under control. It will be interesting to see what he say's.
When my hypertension was first detected by the chiropractor I was immediately hospitalised. It took a long time to sort my cocktail out. Patience Moony, do ask Q's and do as the good doctor advises. The healthier the lifestyle - the longer we can continue doing this ♥

Sometimes you don't get chance to ask questions before you get ushered out of the door. lol. But I will next week TT.
It is important you do, pal, your NHS and all that jazz. Had I not avoided the doctor for too many years I might not have come down this particular road - my HP recordings started at 240/140 and I was trying to achieve that more desirable for 70 yr old woman some 25 years ahead of real time. Now I am on first name terms with so many in my local hospital cardiology team and take part in a regular survey following my MRI and ops etc. Take care Moony

I know what you are saying TT, but after my experience at Southhampton General I don't put to much faith in what any doctor say's to me any more. My doc is one of the old school and is in semi retirement mode so he won't be working much longer then all we will have is kids straight out of college. gawd help us. lol
That is a shame Moony. My practice is excellent and I am under the senior GP there (though I have been through 2 there in my lifetime already). I have asked him for notice of his retirement! I am fortunate in the extreme to come under The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and they have always done me proud, whichever department I come under - 5 and rising now. My advice is for you to get that dialogue going, whether GP or hospital staff, ask Q's and get some definitive answers. I never google my symptoms but once a diagnosis has been made I do like to have a better understanding of whatever ails me. It always helps me when next I see the doctors. Don't knock the young doctors either - I thought I saw the work experience one when my GP was on hols last month but he was excellent, on the ball and got me an immediate hospital referral which was timeous, effective and has saved me a great deal. Be good, be lucky and behave Moony xxx.
morning moony - as everyone's saying, ask for a second opinion, ask to be referred to a consultant, you are entitled to do that if nothing else appears to be working. Don't take no for an answer!
Also - I agree with ttfn, some of the new young doctors may be less experienced but are very much up to speed with new treatments and medication etc., some of the oldies are less open to suggestion. Try seeing a newbie!
