I had marginally high blood pressure.
I was being monitored by a doctor at my work. GP sent me to a week under observation at hospital. no one could find a test that would indicate why BP was not lower.
This went on for a couple of months. My Father died and I had to fly to the Virginia, USA. I came back, all sorts of medical tests and suddenly I was very sick. Couldn't go to work. serveral doctors came to the house (my company had me enrolled in BUPA), and one evening the specialist came and after an examination he told me, "You've had a mild heart attack."
Then the fun really began. Three weeks in hospital (even though was feeling better). Two months off work and reassigned to a less stressful (yea, sure it was) job.
But, I totally changed my lifestyle. Started playing golf a lot, walking a lot, no smoking (I actually quit during all the initial tests) and made sure I ate proper food......all things in moderation.
And most important..............I didn't let things or people wind-me-up. And I continually kept telling everyone, "I don't do rushing and more." And I didn't
That was in 1985 November.
I sure hope you find a happy ending.....Very Best of Luck.....I would really like to know how things work out.

My OH got shock of his life when blood pressure was found to be 200/139 at a well man clinic. Took quite a while to get his medication right now takes 40g ace inhibitor and 40g Angiotensin which keeps him around 140/90. Been on medication at least 16/17 years now, has bi annual check ups and annual blood tests to ensure medication not doing any damage. Give Dr time and he will get it right, everyone is different.
I've had high BP for many years, which was fortunately diagnosed in my 40's. I take four different tablets, and, touch wood am OK so far (I'm 70). My BP has varied a lot over the years, and really the thing to do is not get too hung up on readings. They vary from day to day, and often will be higher at the doctor's because of what is called 'White Coat Syndrome' which means we get anxious when we have the reading taken and it goes higher.
If your doctor is trying different tablets, that is good. It does sometimes take a long time to sort out.
In the meantime, my advice would be to keep your weight down and if you do smoke, do try to stop.
Best of luck, and try not to worry.
