It helps but one has to do a lot of buring calories and eat very little to replace them. Besides you may well be turning fat into muscle, which is heavier. Give it time to see any affects but if you really want to reduce weight as opposed to get fit & healthy, then check your diet.
Follow these steps :
1.Your calorie intake should be less than the calories you burn all day .
2. Don't exercise with empty stomach . Make sure you kick-start your metabolism in morning by having a biscuit or a cup of tea. Having long breaks b/w meals slow down metabolism so keep on eating something after 3 4 hours .
3.Your diet should be protein rich and low on carbs and also have 30-35 grams protein intake after going to gym as protein increases your fat-burn rate .
4. Stop eating sugar and other sweet things .
Just follow these steps , weight will decrease automatically.Exercise should be a life long habit and not just for the sake of weight loss . If you have any doubt , PM me .

for breakfast I have a fresh made vegetable shake and a protein bar. Lunch I have cerial. I then have a vegetable stir fry in the evening and snack on fruit during the day.
I want it to be long term but in 2 months time I am having wedding photos done so I am trying to lose my belly before then.

you're eating too much sugar and carbs and not enough protein
<cereal> - you might as well eat the cardboard box with a few spoons of sugar on top
<snack on fruit duting the day> - an apple contains approx 4 spoons of sugar, a banana 3 spoons
all these sugars will trigger your system for converting food into fat
eat meat, fish and greens - simple

That's tough. When I was vegetarian I progressively got fatter - all that cheese and of course many veggie substitutes are cleverly processed concoctions of oils, sugars and carbs.
Just go easy on the fruit, nuts and tofu and major on fresh vegetables and salad.
Butter is ok and up to 4 ozs of cheese a day.
However, not being omnivorous does make it difficult to get your protein/carbs/fats balance right
Use cream rather than milk - again, it has less sugar

Do you eat dairy-cheeses,cream,full fat yogurt? Eggs? Pulses and brown rice?
All of those will give you far more scope for a healthy diet.
Just greens for a meal will not give your body the nutrition it needs. You still need calories to maintain just your basal metabolism-ie-the basic workings of your body.

I mentioned seeds earlier...both pumpkin ans sunflower are very nutritious. Have them as is roasted-or in the form of a butter-easily made with a blender and some olive oil.
