ear wax

I am getting a gummed-up feeling in my ears. I have had them syringed out before but that is something I find extremely unpleasant.
I am considering things such as 'Otex' as an alternative. Does anyone have an opinion on this product?
thanks
Howie

I had this problem about 5 years ago the doc syringed them at the surgery, not very nice. It started again this June/July went to the docs he said they were bad, and the surgery do not do it now in our town you have to go to a clinic, so he gave me a prescription and made a appointment for the next week, and I must say I found it much better the wax was softened and all is now well, all these products do is soften the wax prior to it being syringed, if anything I found it quite pleasant
I have my ears de-waxed regularly at my local hospital using the vacuum method. It is very quick, absolutely painless, and much more pleasant than traditional water syringing methods. No need to put anything in the ears at all. Ring the ENT department of your local hospital and ask them. You will need a referral from your GP, but if you ask them to fax it through you could probably get an appointment pretty quickly.
~Squad - my GP first referred me to the local hospital to have this done and I have been going every three months for the last couple of years. Recently the nurse who was trained in this procedure was off ill for several months and by searching the internet I discovered that another local hospital, even nearer to where I live, also do this. I telephoned them and they said they would do it if my GP sent through a referral, which he did. I only have one ear that works (and that, not very well), so need to keep my ears clear of wax and the water-syringe method is considered too dangerous for someone with only one working ear. If that one gets damaged I am well and truly *********
