Who told you to tell the DVLA?
Hi Grannie39
I had a knee replacement 7 years ago and didn't have to tell the DVLA. Had to wait at least 8 weeks before I was allowed to drive though ! My philosophy is, if you are unable to drive, why tell the DVLA ? Good luck with the op, keep us posted.

i have had 2x knee replacements and have never had to inform the dvla, When the doctor said i could drive again, i just did. Do you have an underlying contidion that you need the knee replacements for? Perhaps it's that you have to report?
As i wanted to drive a little sooner than usual afterwards, i got my gp to write a letter to the insurance company and rang them - they said as long as a medical person said it was ok for me to drive, all was ok
