Hadn't heard of this until one of my Yoga students said she had been recommended it for night cramps that had never responded to any treatment over many years. Last week she said she didn't think it was working although the cramps had lessened when she first tried it. Will ask her this week if she's not bothering any more or whether it's the answer. It's not cheap apparently (no surprise there).
As to being dangerous? Not sure, Sqad will have an opinion :-)

Well..........are we ever magnesium depleted?
Very rarely in my opinion....I have never seen magnesium depletion.
There are few conditions which occasionally, very occasionally are associated with low blood magnesium levels.
NOW........the bottom line...IF i had low magnesium levels in my blood(confirmed by blood analysis) would i replace the magnesium by rubbing it into my skin?........NO.....I would take it by mouth.
A hint of quackery I think.

Tilly2, according to this it seems to be nothing less than miraculous. I'd never heard of it until my masseuse asked if I'd like to try it.
Sqad's valued opinion, that it's a hint of quackery, means that I will, and humour her.
