Ear Infection

I have an infection in my ear and the Dr gave me some antibiotic/anti-fungal ear drops, been on them 4 days now and the pain is a lot worse, more itchy and the 'running' sensation is also greater. I can't get an appointment so should I continue with the drops or should I stop them and go back, she has only put me on them for a week.

Many thanks

I've had an ear infection for the last week and i've been on Gentisone eardrops, the pain and discharge went quite quickly although I'm still a bit deaf. It seems your medication is not working, maybe a different antibiotic is needed.

You could try a walk in centre.

I have no idea what I've been given, all I know is they are yellow. I don't have a walk in centre here but if it gets any worse over the weekend I'll be there for open surgery on Monday morning.

Hope that your hearing comes back soon
...Pardon?
Qom it usually says on the packaging.
My children suffer from glue ear and one of the consultants that we have seen suggested using Karvol (or similar) to keep/help keep all the or ways and tubes clear (even if they are not snuffily). Hope it helps.

I haven't got the packaging on me Mamma :(

I shall give it a go Sherr, I was thinking maybe trying a Saline wash too
If they are antibiotic/antifungal, they will not be gentisin.

Glue ear is a totally different "kettle of fish" and doesn't apply to you.

I would stop the drops, keep the ear as clean as possible with ear swabs and go back to your doctor.

it is likely that your war is allergic to the antibiotic drops.

Take Ibuprofen 400mgms as and when necessary for the pain.
