I've always liked Covonia though I can't take most of them as they won't stay down, the glycerine like stuff maybe in it.

Codeine can be a good cough suppressant - not too much though else it tends to "supress" other things!

Are you asthmatic?

No but my son is and he has a cough too
My son has a lingering cough left over from a recent cold, I got him some Covonia lozenges and he said they are really good... but very strong!

Steam inhalation works extremely well.
Agree with Covonia too.
I don't know if this works cos Ive never tried it but I have a friend who swears by it if she has a cough that keeps her awake at night. Smear the soles of the feet with Vicks Vapour Rub and cover with socks before going to bed. Wounds weird, but apparently it works!
I think Eve is referring to a medicine called pholcodeine shes correct in saying it is a suppressant. But if you have a chesty cough you need an EXPECTORANT !! These dont stop you coughing but will help you to cough up yukky stuff from your chest!!! effective ingredients are Guaifenesin or squill !!! if you have a bunged up nose too then try a dual action one like.....Boots Chesty Cough and Congestion Relief Oral Solution
