Free Glasses?

I have a certificate entitling me to get free prescriptions, I really need glasses and was wondering if I am entitled to free glasses.

Why not contact the Benefits Agency to find out what you might be entitled to
you should be able to find a number for them in the phone book.

It should state what health care benefits you are entitled to on your certificate....assuming it is the one you get as a result of applying on form from DWP....you get a certificate towards the cost of glasses....not free glasses...

Bednobs - its because of my ongoing Cancer treatment.

Put it this way, due to my severe sight problems I qualify for the Voucher worth £200, and it still cost me dearly for a new pair. There are so many variables on cost depending on your prescription and what deals thee opticians are offering at the time.

I would go to your optician, and ask, millie - they'll know about entitlements.

Oh I am more than happy to pay any shortfall, anything towards them will be great, I have been saving up for ages.

Specsavers very reasonable...wide range of frames....at all prices....from £29....lots of deals too....as good as expensive opticians....I have saved a fortune switching to them.....should have gone to specsavers.......sooner !!

Millie....it's just a matter of filling in form, waiting for certificate of entitlement which you take to opticians ....simple....real big saving.....you can use it every two years.....if You choose from the £69 range or above at specsavers get a second pair free...!!

it sounds to me like you are NOT entitled, unless your prescription exemption form is because of low income
•You receive Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (not contribution-based)
•You receive Pension Credit Guarantee Credit.
•You receive Income-based Employment and Support Allowance.
•You are awarded Universal Credit
•You are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate.
•You are named on a valid NHS certificate for full help with health costs (HC2). People named on an NHS certificate for partial help with health costs (HC3) may also get help.
