Stinging Toes

sometimes for reasons I cannot fathom out my toes sting, usually one or two on one foot or the other but never at the same time. why ? and what can I do to stop it ?

Are you taking any medication?
For how long has this been affecting you?
Any redness or swelling of the toes?

Sqad I take bp and cholestral meds and quinine for night cramps. this comes & goes for over a year, it smarts/stings on the toes,middle toes only, no swelling in toes,ankles permanently swollen no matter what I take i.e.frusemide, legs not painful.
