Hi San
I have prostate cancer and was diagnosed in July2010 following my 3rd biopsy. As Sqad has said, sometimes there are little if any symptoms. A visit to the Dr for a PSA test will determine whether or not he will need further investigation. A normal reading for PSA is around the 4 mark (at least it used to be, don't know if they've shifted the goalposts !) - when I was diagnosed my PSA was 13.9 !! Having said that, a man can have a low PSA yet still have cancer. Other symptoms of an ENLARGED PROSTATE are as Sqad has said, poor flow, difficulty in peeing, feeling like your bladder isn't empty and sometimes the need to get up several times during the night. These DO NOT indicate cancer every time though. If Sqad reads this, perhaps he could say what he thinks about the PSA test.
Wish your partner well.
