have a friend that has had a biopsy, waiting for results, but been told she has an inflamed kidney; and prescribed steroids.. googled it, but not very clear. can possible problem be treated with drugs? is kidney problems serious? age of friend is 65, and in otherwise good health.

impossible to say until the biopsy result id think.
agree with Anne. Don't google, it'll either confuse or frighten your friend.
Almost certainly NOT cancer.
Almost certainly acute glomerulonephritis.
Yes it can be treated with drugs, steroids being the main line of attack.
It is usually not life threatening.
