I have spent nearly the last 3 hours with a slight loss of hearing in one ear and when I hear people talking or anything it sounds like someone is hitting a glass with a spoon. Will it pass by itself and my hearing come back?

I think that you need to give it time to "pass by itself" as it may just be some fluid in the middle ear or some congestion secondary to a cold.
Another possibility is some impacted was in the ear canal.
If you have some nasal congestion (blocked nose) then Sinex Nasal Spray may help to solve your problem.

If it hasn't resolved in 3 days or got worse, then see your GP.

There is nothing sinister behind your symptoms.

I don't think it's wax Anne as I don't really have very waxy ears (apparently)

I wondered if it was that Conne but it's not a constant tinging - but I can lie with it for now :)
I don't get ting ting TONG LOL - I get a bee buzzing in and out of my ear - it drives me to distraction and when it gets really bad I have to hold on to my ear it nearly becomes painful.

My cousin gets the sound of a washing machine - so queen lots of sounds around.
