Pneumonia

my wife for the last 3 weeks has had an awful cough which she said was the whooping cough but had to visit the doc as was making no headway with it. he prescribed antibiotics and an Xray which she had yesterday. This showed matter in the lungs and suspected pneumonia. She has to go back next week for update at the docs. Another symptom she has is she is week and tired.
No great pain but lack of appetite
Any tips on care and as to how long this could go on.Thank you
