I hate flossing and feel goose bumps at the mere thought of it.

However the dentists tells me I must floss and to consider an airfloss. I've looked at some online and they all have very poor reviews. Many people have found them to fault very quickly and at £80-£100 i don't feel like risking it.

Any suggestions for a reliable alternative to the nasty white string?

I use a Panasonic water flosser which is very good. Had it a couple of years now, 2 of us using it every day. It comes with two heads with a different colour band round them so we each know which belongs to who.
What about the Tepee brushes? I prefer them to flossing.
I agree, rr. They are great.

Jordyboy, you want teeth that outlast you. The other way round isn't comfortable, believe me.

What is it you don't like about flossing, Maydup? I find toothpicks fine.
TePe brushes are just too big to get between teeth. I know because I wasted money on one once. That said, it wasn't until my teeth started gradually moving around, about a decade or so ago, that I was able to use 'normal' floss anyway. Most of my life it was near impossible to get it in and out to use it, or even to need to. I bought a water flosser not so long ago, but with no socket in the bathroom (sure now we all have RCD we ought not worry ?) and no decent shelf to place it handy, I've yet to get around to using it, months later.

I've never flossed but now that my teeth are moving slightly I need to clean more carefully to protect against gum disease apparently.

The floss squeaks and makes me shiver jno! I find it awkward to use and struggle to get it between some of the teeth.

Like you oldG I have no power in the bathroom and no little shelf for this gadget so I am not sure I'll get on with it unless its battery run maybe?

Maybe I will have a look for one or try at a tepee brush.
OG, Tepee brushed come in about 8 different sizes and the idea is to work your way up gradually.

Maydup, start with the smaller ones, you might be able to get a mixed multi pack from Amazon.
I can't use floss but I can use Glide Floss picks. I have trouble getting them in the chemist but my dentist sells them. Maybe you could try those.
Yes, that's them. I use the Crest ones.

Great I'm going for the OralB make as the Crest are no longer being manufactured, hence the silly price. The reviews show that the crest users have switch to oral b quite successfully. Other cheaper ones are tricky to use they say. Thanks Jools, i'll give this a go , no electric needed and no great financial outlay, plus you can keep a few in a washbag for holidays.
I bought the smallest one the local chemist (Boots ?) had Rocky. It still sits in the bathroom, not sure why I haven't slung it, save that I hate buying things and then just throwing them away. Wasteful. Maybe I'll grow into it.
