How I wish I could get lava bread in London. No problem in Swansea or even Barnstaple. They used to sell it in Selfridges food hall but it has probably been replaced by Falafael. Roll on Bury Black Pudding as well :-)
Thanks Togo
Still feel like I have done 3 mins with "our Henry" Thanks for the link. I used to go to that site regularly and it was always unavailable (Lava not the site).
I ended up buying small tins from another site which turned out very expensive and didn't taste as good. Could of bought Bulga caviar cheaper. :-) I will send off for some today.
Mrs retro hates me frying it up in bacon fat cos bits stick to the pan and kitchen sink

Those are the ones. Got to be with fat though. My flooded out B.I.L. lives in Bury and he gets it for us occasionally.Think his mind is very much on saving his possessions at the moment and house repairs so I had better get a ring from Sainsburys. :-( Used to get big rolls of it in Costco when I can get there.
'She who must be obeyed' has started her annual guilt trip diet. Can't wait to see her face when I give her a big portion of black pudding and tell her it is a health food.
I always remember a large imposing house standing on its own in Rest Bay, Porthcawl. It was a rest home for retired Miners( most with respiratory diseases). My da told me they were fed lava bread every breakfast for it's medicinal qualities (plenty of iron etc.)
"Ay sticks to your ribs boy" he used to tell me. :-)
I sometimes do too hc. But I do like it warm with eggs. Grilled is a good option. They have been serving it at top end eateries with quail eggs and asparagus for a while.
