I asked at my surgery for access to my medical records. I received a letter with a website, user name and password. However, when I log in, all I get is a list of appointments, which doctor I saw and what medication was given. This is called systmonline. This is not what I wanted at all, I wanted access to my medical history which I though I was allowed to obtain. Does anyone know the correct procedure or am I totally mistaken. Thank you.
no, OG, there will be letters from specialists to the GP in the GP notes and letters from the GP to the hospital services in the hospital notes, but even now they are not computerised. Additionally medical records are not easy to read unless you have been taught how to....similar to reading blue prints or computer coding or any other specialist way of setting information down.
As Pigleton's link shows, there's a £10 fee for obtaining fully-computerised records and a £50 one for obtaining those wholly, or partly, on paper. (Those are theoretically maximum fees but I've never heard of anyone being charged less!).
If you weren't asked for a fee then, as Pigletons suggests, it's likely that your request was misunderstood.
Oh you should try working with it....get a referral, try and get hold of the medical notes, told they have gone off to a clinic and we can’t have them until the clinic has happened and the notes have been written up that could be 4 weeks hence....then someone has dropped them and they have been put back in the folder in the wrong order....and do not get me started on handwriting!
i can see a truncated version of my medical records via my suregery's online system. It only includes medicines that have been prescribed and allergies
Thank you all for your comments. I wanted local surgery and hospital records.i think as you say they misunderstood what I was after. I was given the website as per bednobs comment, only able to see appointments etc. I can see I need to try again but make myself more clear on what I need. Appreciate all the answers.
