At the risk of sounding ‘holier than thou’(believe me I’m not) here is a rough breakdown of my lifestyle:
Stopped smoking 25 years ago.
Eat lots of whole meal bread, rice, pasta, couscous, chickpeas, vegetables, chicken and fish, am rigid on my 5 a day in regards to fruit.
Have one/two mugs of tea per day(only in work, never at home) with sweeteners. Eat cereal every day with almond milk.
Rarely touch cheese(sadly) and don’t eat crisps any more.
I cycle roughly 40-50 miles per week and have never felt fitter. Also, as an ex Serviceman I’m allowed free swimming at the local baths and make use of that mostly in winter.
I drink 4-5 pints per week(in one night when attending the pub quiz, when shifts allow) and will have a ‘session’ once every 3-4 months, usually a work social function, during which I’m suitably imbibed which invariably results in me walking home whilst cuddling a kebab and chips!
I’ll usually thrash myself on the bike the day after in an act of penance....LOL
