The Hygia Trial has shown a significant reduction in cardiovascular events (such as heart attacks, strokes and cardiovascular deaths) in patients who take their blood pressure medication at night.

I'm switching from morning to evening.

'One to be taken at night' or words to that effect since my first prescription, a few years ago now.
Yes I do take medication for BP.

"I'm switching from morning to evening."

Good......I take my medication for BP twice daily, morning and evening.

"The Hygia Trial"...interesting but as far as i know the results haven't been replicated. It is a matter of watch this space for further studies, as the medical profession is renowned for controversy and changing it's mind.
My GP put me on BP tablets a week ago after going to see her with a chest infection. It was just one of the tests she did and it was 199/111, this was the best of 3. GP didn't say whether they've to be taken day or night and I haven't started taking them yet because when I asked her if it could be high because of the chest infection, she didn't answer directly, she just said 'I don't want you getting a stroke'. I would like to know more about it before taking the tablets as I don't want to put chemicals into my body without knowing if there are other alternatives i.e Lifestyle.

I agree with your GP.......take her advice and your tablets.
Sqad, If I knew more about it I would, but I don't know if it was high because of the chest infection and I now seem to have sinusitis or if it's just 'white coat syndrome' I will monitor it myself at home when I am feeling better and then decide. I've also been told in the past that having Rheumatoid Arthritis can cause high blood pressure even if you take the tablets. It's very difficult for me to make the right decision without knowing all the facts.
Barsel...LOL......I know.
This was mentioned on the radio this morning, adding to consult your Doctor before changing. Seems an eminently sensible thing to do.

What - You mean you medical folk , can suffer from hypertension , then ?
Bazile...LOL....worse diseases than that ....,-)
I take a small amount of Telmasartin (20mg) in the morning, - they sit atop the tea-caddy to be sure I don't forget. I couldn't trust myself to take it before bed because I'd be mixing it with my other medication which tends to produce forgetfulness ; alcohol :0)
I was told to take mine first thing in the morning. I shall do so until I next see my doctor, then I might query it.
I take two different tablets daily - one in the morning and one in the evening.

The morning one is a diuretic and means I am not getting up in the night to go to the loo.

The evening one - my GP said it might make me drowsy so always take it then. It doesn't but it's now a habit.
Diuretic in the morning unless I am far from the khasi through most of it.
Rivaoxaban at bedtime after a meal
I'm sure I've read that evening medication for BP was preferable, ages ago.
Already take it in the evening, contemplating making it a bit later in the evening.
