Even when, or if, we get some sort of control over this virus in the coming months, do you think that all food outlets,( especially supermarkets) should continue to have hand jells available before you enter, to be the norm for the future.

The important thing to remember is that hand gels only work five times and then you have to wash your hands again with soap and water. Yes, hand gels / sanitisation facilities should be available on an ongoing basis in order to prevent the spread of all infections.

Shock horror! Not only do I agree with TTT but with Naomi too!
crikey, even ZM is on board!
I don't see a problem with having it there....people can choose to use it or not.

TTT, the normal from you, erratic over the top response, clinically sterilised?? No just good basic hygiene practices, that you appear to dismiss.
I'm not the only one who thinks it's pointless TC.
I also think it’s pointless.
TTT; you sound like the sort of person I would avoid like the plague. I presume you don't wash your hands after you've been to the loo?
by what reasoning have you made that assumption atheist? I have standard personal hygiene I do not need flawed instructions intended to appease imbeciles to tell me when to wash my hands.
I agree with the general view.
However I often use it as I like the way it feels on my hands :0)
I am hoping that that slimy sensation I recently started getting on my hands when taking a trolley or lifting a basket (much less pleasant) is gel-related!
TTT is correct.

There is no way all the general public would complete their shop without scratching an itch, picking something or coughing and sneezing.

We could all go round in Hamzat suits of course
Oh, and I too do use the stuff well before Covid.
well they aren't called the great unwashed for nowt YMB!
27 people infected from Edinburgh club. All showing signs of minor symptoms. Minor, there’s the key word.
TTT is correct, and, as is so often proven with boring regularity on this site, TC and Gulliver are wrong.

It really doesn't make too much thinking to realise using gel (not jell) on your hands as you enter a supermarket is all but redundant as soon as you handle something else.
DD: "It really doesn't make too much thinking......" - too much for some!
If they want to. IMO a waste of time. Shop, go home, wash hands. Works for me. Of course if you want to eat immediately in the car or on the street you could always provide your own virus destroying wipes.

Well at least I know now why we have had nearly fifty thousand deaths in the UK and still rising, we have adults who don't see the point in keeping their hands clean, even after all the warnings to do so. Basic hygiene it can't be that difficult to understand, but it appears that way for most on here.
TC wasn't it you that told us that you ignored all the one way systems in shops? Bit hypocritical to moan at the rest of us don't you think? You cannot keep your hands "clean" for longer than a few seconds anyway, pointless.
I can see both sides. Gel can only help and won't do any harm, but it doesn't eliminate risks by any means. Your putting on gel is more to help others than to help you- it's so we all play a small part in ensuring we are not bringing the virus in on our hands. We may touch infected items so it's best not to touch your face, eyes mouth, mask, phone etc and to use gel again as you leave
You can't make that leap of judgement safely Teacake, all your thread proves is that some folk would use gel at a shop doorway and some wouldn't.

The efficacy is neither here nor there.
