Even when, or if, we get some sort of control over this virus in the coming months, do you think that all food outlets,( especially supermarkets) should continue to have hand jells available before you enter, to be the norm for the future.

The important thing to remember is that hand gels only work five times and then you have to wash your hands again with soap and water. Yes, hand gels / sanitisation facilities should be available on an ongoing basis in order to prevent the spread of all infections.

Makes sense.
why only food outlets?
No, waste of time.
What a load of old pony! Hands may be sanitised for about 3 seconds till they wipe the gunge off down their clothes, hands inpockets etc then touch all manner of unclean surfaces, on their way round the aisles to the Jack and Jill. Gawd elp us how did we ever manage without hand sanitiser?

13.42 Not a problem if others care to do it also, it may encourage more customers to use that shop than one that don't have it. TTT explain your waste of time?
I always make a point of not using it, it leaves me with wet sticky hands.
Question Author
The unclean surfaces you refer to would become a lot cleaner over the period that jell will have been used.
"explain your waste of time? " - see my post at 13:45
Good lord - TTT comes back and I'm agreeing with him!

Well its only taken you the morning to get into stupid 5th gear again. TTT
OK TC so every inch of the supermarket has been clinically sterilised has it? Right oh! Every single person has spotless clothes? never puts their hand in their pocket? picks their nose? scratches their bum?, every product on every shelf is sterilised? all the trollies? If the answer to any of those and a thousand others is no then the whole thing is a waste of time, end of.
diddly, 13:48, I need a lie down!
"Not a problem if others care to do it also" - great are you having storm troopers on the entrance to enforce this then?
13.51 ,have to agree with you teacake , some people will never learn

For some any improvement from the normally doubtful quality of hygiene is welcome, others see it as an affront.
No. A healthy immune system seemed fine before the covid crisis, zero proof of third-party surface covid virus transmission has been shown, so that is one 'normal' after this crisis we should revert to.

The 'autumn wave' / 2nd wave has not materialised and hopefully won't, but I don't relish garb like this farce becoming literally de rigueur

Indeed, 7Op, it could be argued that sanitiser isn't good for our immune system.

I also agree with Tora.....a complete waste of time. I bet the people stacking shelves (ofter with insulating gloves when stacking cold shelves) don't sanitise or use fresh gloves for each trolley full coming out of the storage area.
I agree with TTT. Unless everything you're likely to come into contact with has been sanitised it's pointless.
