A couple of walks twice a day, say 20 mins would be better as this keeps your metabolism ticking over. Jig about when your waiting for the kettle to boil anything to keep moving. Best of luck with it.
Try using www.sparkpeople.com it's a great site to help calculate calories in food and what you burn in exercise.
Easily.. combined with sensible eating.I have no choice but to walk .We don't have a car and public transport where I live is abysmal.I walk a great dog three times everyday for about half an hour each time.I walk back and forth for shopping etc. and everywhere else I want to get to within reason. Get into the habit and you will soon see the benefit .A brisk walk in the fresh air is a real tonic.
It all helps

Depending on your weight walking at 2mph will burn about 125 calories in 45 minutes.

That's about a small roll of bread with butter or a small salad or something like 3/4 of a chocolate flake bar.

Of course if you can get up to more vigorous excercise it starts to get much better:

If you are in a reasonable state of health steady walking will probably only exercise the leg muscles. To get more aerobic exercise for heart and lungs you need to walk briskly so that you perspire and breathe more deeply.
