my mum has had a blood test done and waiting for result. My sister( who has the same doctor) was in the surgery and asked for the results which (she says) he gave, the next day her daughter rang our hospital, asked and was given the result ( different to what the doc had told me sister (presumably) both these women are scaremongers. Thing is,would the doc and hospital give out results to just any one who claims are family over the phone, mum is distressed now. Thank you

Hello banjobabe
so nice of you to answer cos im worried. Mum was told they would contact her when results were in but my sister and niece ( who have to poke thier noses in) took it upon themselves, mum only had blood test done last Friday, she gets confused and now even more so. We're worried as doc has not ruled out lung cancer after she had xray, has scan tomorrow. thanks again banjobabe

hope all goes well with your mums results, as far as i know all they would have said is that the results were available or not, they certainly would not have discussed information and if there was anything anyway they would have asked for your mum to see them to discuss the results in person, so rest assured that until your mum has seen them in person nobody will have been told of anything to worry about.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, by the time I had arrived at mums she was so unhappy and confused. She, at this moment is having a scan and will be informed of the outcome next week, to her, first hand, with one of us there so we can explain it to her too. You and banjobabe have been so sweet in helping me out as I am so very worried, you have been like friends.

Hi babyjane. Sorry to hear about your mum.
You say your sister went to the surgery and asked for the results (presumably in person ?). The GP may well have told her if she is not well enough to go down herself. Howvever, if your GP has the results, I dont see how the hospital would still have them. Usually they send them to the GP unless she had got to go back to the hospital to get them (in which case the GP wouldnt have them) They certainly would not have given results over the phone because of data protection.
If you are concerned, contact the GP yourself for clarification.
Good luck hun. xx

Hi silverdaler
Yes I see what you mean about if the doctor has them then the hospital wont. My mum is worried enough and my sister adds to it. I have taken all the advice ( and support)you lovely people have given me and put my mums mind at rest a little, now we are waiting for the scan results on Feb 1st, when we hear what the patch on her lung is. Poor darling, there is nothing I can do, I feel so helpless, the waiting is torture. If you, banjobabe and sleepyfairy dont mind I will let you know the outcome. Thank you all so much

She now has enlarged chest glands.there is a special scanner which pinpionts this, unfortunatly there isnt one here in the North East till end of August so we are having mam go to London to a clinic in two weeks to find out if cancer is there too. If it is Doctor said it could be contained, the cancerous tumour on bottom of her right lung will either be chem or an op. Doctor assured her she will be able to live out her life and can be treated. If prayers are answered then I have prayed enough for her to be cured. I am relying on God and good Doctors, thats all I can do sleepyfairy. We are building mam up with "super" food, vitamins and loads and loads of love and support. She is dearly loved as all mams are.
Thank you for caring

Life can be so cruel at times, just when you gain some strength, something else comes to knock you down, I can understand how frustrating waiting can be, you feel like they should be doing something as time means everything, I know it is a very demanding time for you, it sounds like you are gaining strength from each other, i hope you can all hold out and that your mum gains the strength needed to fight, i am sure your love and help will see her through.
Good luck and strength, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your mum and family.
Take care.xx

Thank you so much for the words you wrote and for praying for my darling mam. It is so lovely of you to take the time, you made me feel a little less lonely. I carry the thought of it till I finally fall asleep and its my first thought in the morning.
I pray God gives her strength and guides the doctors who will treat her. Your right, the waiting is unbearable for mam and the family. Thank you once again and God Bless you

\mam was told yesterday she has cancer in one chest gland,in her pelvis bone as well as the tumour. We are devastated, Doctor is having a meeting next Thurs with another consultant and he is going to suggest 8 chemo sessions to try and shrink the tumour then contain the rest with medication. Mam thinks she will be cured but we told her the truth and said "you can go on for years with treatment" cos thats what the Doc told us, albeit, before she went to London so we pray this is still so. Im sure they would not have allowed the tiring trip and chemo if they thought it was to no use.
