My Mum

My mum's 43 and has lost nearly 2 stone in the past 12 months.
She was a size 16/18 but is now a size 14, nearly 12.
She's happy she's lost weight but cannot shift it from her hips she says. What should she do?

We've dieted before but what helped get it off our hips etc. this time was walking every night. I cant run and the gym doesnt appeal but walking was easy, cheap and has definitely made a difference
To lynbrown, Im the same, cant really power walk far so I do brisk, mind you even when I walk with the dog (who stops to sniff every bush etc) as long as its a reasonable distance and regular Ive found it helps.
Dusty Bin, sorry Im preaching to the converted, your mum is obviously very fit. Perhaps a trainer a the gym could advise her to the reason why and what she can do.

She's tried asking the staff at the gym, but they're not much help. None of them do training : they're more just there to show people how to use the equipment and offer first aid if needed.
She's thought about getting a personal trainer. Are they worth the money? They seem to charge about 30 - 50 per hour's session.
