Why do your glasses irritate you?
15 years ago I got a pair of glasses and like you didn't wear them. Mainly because they gave me a headache as they were heavy and I just didn't like wearing them. But last year I finally decided to go to the opticians again because I couldn't read anything on the tv in small print, I was always squinting when using the pc and people would tell me to stop frowning which I did when I walked outside because I was straining my eyes to see. Sometimes my other half would ask me if I saw the cyclis or pedestrian when I was driving and I didn't so I knew it was time to go to the optician. I now wear glasses when I drive, when I use the pc and when I watch tv. I was told I didn't have to wear them 24/7 so when I get home and not doing any of the above things I don't wear them. By not wearing the ones I was given 15 years ago my eye muscles deteriorated because they had to work so much harder for me to see. I now wear rimless which weigh nothing and sometimes I forget I'm wearing glasses.
Maybe you need to try a different frame which won't irritate you

Contrary to popular belief, not wearing prescribed glasses will not adversly effect your eyes. All that will happen is that you will get headaches, wrinkles from squinting (as has already been said).
Glasses are NOT a cure, if you think of your eye as a telescope that will not focus, glasses provide an extra lense so that it can focus properly and that is all they do.
Having said all this, why would you not want to be able to see more clearly? Are contact lenses an option for you?
