Alcohol and Metronidazole

I am taking Metronidazole and my doctor said not to drink or use anything with alcohol in it. She said not to use perfum because it has alcohol in it too. Well I was woundering if it was safe to use deoderants such as secret clincal strength?

Using deodorants will be fine. You must avoid drinking alcohol whilst you are taking this medicine, and for at least 24 hours after, but using your deodorant should be fine.

I can't understand why your doctor has told you not to use perfume - if there is something out of the ordinary that you are aware of, you should ask your GP about the deodorant to be on the safe side.

Thanks Ethel, I looked at the link. When I looked up metronidazole on ask.com I seen that you shouldn't drink coffee with this drug. I didn't see it on the link you gave me though. Do you think this is true? I sure hope not because I need my coffee.

Coffee should be ok.

If you feel unwell after drinking the coffee, don't drink it any more whilst you are taking the medicine.
