Does anyone out there suffer these side affects on Statins, flatulance , mood swings , waking in the night with indegestion type pain in right shoulder

Hello Lucydog, Mr M takes statins and he has muscle pain and weakness which is a common side effect. I have just read the reported side effects on the leaflet that came with the medication and it states change in mood, sleep problems and stomach upset are common. The other symptoms you mention are a particular pain in your right shoulder and flatulence, people who have high blood cholesterol levels have a higher risk of developing gallstones and those symptoms are common in that disease. Perhaps you could mention them to your Dr and see what he thinks. Take care.

Both my sister & my friend are on Savistatin for high cholesterol & they tell me they have no side effects.

I hope they don't, because my last reading in May was 7.4 & the Doc said he might put me on them if it's still as high after the next test due in October.
