Hi Folks, Ive suffered from migraines at different periods since my son was born nearly 21yrs ago, put down to hormone changes. Ive had very effective preventative treament when they were at my worst and have prescribed painkillers for what have become rare attacks now. Last week I had a headache most days which at the weekend turned to a two day migraine. I had a clear day on Sunday, yet started again yesterday with pains on the top and back of my head and Ive woke with the same thing today, sounds daft but when I walk I get a pain and when I bend down its really sharp. I had a few stressful weeks recently both in my home and work life but never suffered then. Grateful for any ideas, thanks.

I had a migraine all day Friday - been getting them every 2 weeks lately and they seem to last a day or two. I can't face food or even water when I have one so eat nothing all day but am still physically sick. I don't take any medication for them. Movement seems to make it worse. I just lie on the sofa feeling dreadful and sleep a lot. Can't suggest anything but I do sympathise - they are awful. I've had acupuncture but don't know if it helped much.
Sounds like stress. I have the same after a particularly stressful time. They are head pains rather than headaches and like you I get the pain when I bend down. Doctor thinks the pains originate from muscular tension in the back and neck and has prescribed low dose diazapam for two weeks to relax me and those muscles.

I am also a migraine sufferer.

See your GP.
Headaches that worsen when bending are usually a sign of sinusitis. See your doctor and tell them about the bending making it worse, you may need a course of antibiotics....in the meantime try some sudafed tablets from your chemist(not the ones with paracetamol in as they are rubbish).

Thanks everyone for your help. 1955 if you would consider medication I find Naramig taken at the onset of the migraine is the best pain reliever Ive had but I understand if you prefer not to. Mine were affecting work so frequently years ago I was desperate. Thanks LoftyLottie, I wondered if it was the stress, was just confused because things have settled down and yet its only now I feel so ill. daffy 654, i never thought of sinusitis but coincidentally today the pains have been across the top of my nose and across the back of my eyes. Ive got an appointment early tomorrow and Im really grateful for all your help.
I'm glad you.ve managed to get an appointment so quickly :-) Headaches can be so debilitating.
Take care
