Piles can bleed - the blood will be red and fresh. They are painful but not usually serious.

Ha ha ha!! That made me laugh - but seriously, they can be horrible things. They're actually varicose veins Hu - which can be internal or external, and Ethel's right in what she said. Delboy is as well, actually - you can self-medicate if the problem isn't too bad.
