Hi folks, can anyone help please. I'm so uncomfortable, my stomach is swollen and my breasts are extremely painful and swollen. Im convinced its water retention but dont know what I can do about it without bothering the doctor. Does anyone know if theres anything I can buy that might bring some relief and also whether there are particular foods I should avoid. I eat quite healthily as I do slimming world. Thanks so much for your help.

A tablet called Adios gets rid of water retention. It's used to aid weight-loss. I take it when I'm on my period as I get really bloated, and it's really good. It's about 8 for a pot of tablets, get it in Boots and most places.
There is another cheaper option available in health food shops. Its called Water Balance and is about 5.00 for a bottle of tablets. I use them and they do work.
For a more long term solution, (you may already be doing this as you say you eat healthily but just in case!), drink lots of water - surprisingly increased amounts of water decreases water retention as your body has no "need" to retain it as you replensih it and replace it so often, or that's how I was lead to understand it anyway.
Also, you could lower your salt intake as this increases water retention.
Lastly, something I have done myself in the past and noticed a dramatic difference (I guess it depends on how much you drink though) but try cutting out caffeine as this can lead to water retention too.

However I have used Aqua ban in the past and aside from having to pee every 5mins, they were very good at combatting water retention.

Oh, and exercise, that helps too.

Aww thanks everyone, you've given me a few ideas to try and I'm really grateful for your help. natalie_1982 you may have hit on something, I did drink a lot of cold water but with the cold weather this has diminished, I substituted boiled water for tea and coffee instead but Ive even got lazy with that, thanks again!
