I have had a pain in my left jaw, just to the side of where my ear lobe is for over 6 weeks now. its not my teeth, its right on the joint, and when i open my mouth wide it hurts. It seems to ease off a bit as the day goes by. Anyone any idea what it could be? Cheers...
Sounds like a disorder ot the tempero-mandibular joint ( jaw) Could be many things but none sinister, e.g tempero-mandibular arthritis. You say that have seen a dentist which has excluded wisdom teeth, so you really need to see a Facio-maxillary specialist.
No, i havent seen a dentost, i just know its not my wisdom teeth because of where the pain is.
Dont like the sound of the condition or the specialist, so if its not sinister then i will give it a few more weeks.
cheers anyway.
I would say see your dentist, could be that you are grinding or clenching your teeth at night which is why the pain subsides throughout the day. They can check your teeth for any wear and anything that's not as it should be. If you are grinding they can make you a mouthguard to wear at night and the pain should disappear.
Hope this helps :)
You might be right SaintAleia. My ankle has been hurting for nearly 4 months now.
Went to the docs about that, but he just gave me some silly tabs that havent made any difference and suggested Physio.
I think i am falling apart :(
Anyone want anything off me before i disapear? :)
I had this not so long ago, mine started off creaking and a bit painful, I was paranoid about it, but found I kept opening my mouth as wide as I could to see if it was still doing it...in the end, I promised myself I wouldnt "test" it as much and it went away after a few weeks....so resist the temptation of the "testing" if you know what I mean, and see how it goes!
