What does it mean if you have excessive, clear coloured mucous in your faeces?

Something has irritated your colon. Could be a variety of reasons. Mucous is produced naturally in the bowel and will increase if there is some sort of problem. If this has just started and it doesn't improve then it would be wise to see a doctor to rule out the more serious causes.

It is a very common symptom for those with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

Thanks Loftie, I thought it might be something like that. Could also be to do with my crap diet, which I am changing.
Yep, my monies on colitis - the mucous is a dead give away.
