Go straight to the GP as you will need investigation.
If it is very bright red, it is probably an anal fissure or haemorrhoids. Neither are serious.

If it is black and tarry, that can indicate more serious problems.

See your GP
Sounds like piles but please go as soon as to the doctor!!!
Is the blood actually in your poo or has it just come from your bum into the toilet? If its the latter it's probably piles. Can you feel any? (sorry thats gross!) My hubby suffers from this and he has said blood can literally seep out into the toilet! He has been checked out and the doctor said it was piles. You really need to see a doctor yourself to make sure you get the correct diagnosis. Don't worry about that bit too much. As the GP said to my hubby this is going to be worse for me than it is you!
first advice - go to the doctor, thats what they are there for silly!, second question - you aint been eating beetroot every day have you?
Please take the advice of mandimoo, you do not want to know what MIGHT be causing the problem, you want to know what IS causing the problem.
