kjc ... if, after all these months, they turn against me for standing up for my beliefs, then they were never loyal friends in the first place, so it's no loss.

I will remember in future to not stand up for my beliefs.

I will become a hypocrite, and post what makes me look good, instead of what I feel is right.

Sad that AB should become a forum where people must not express their opinions.

we can never know if he was telling the truth but i dont think he should be egged on or abused...

if it was a total lie then I'm sure the people who responded out of compassion dont mind being classed as gulliable as they were trying to help this person.

i tried it first with best way to kill your self and didn't come up and then asked suicide answers and it went on to a big list of posts on the answerbank

if it was a hoax i hope the person doing it feels really guilty about hurting peoples feelings but if it was genuine shame on the negative responses.

i hope it's not on the news in the next few days like the post above with that poor man obviously crying out for help and having sick people telling him to do it.

i have always had support on here but hope i never feel suicidal again and ask for help on here

We don't know exactly what he typed into Google Jayne,he may not have just put the word 'suicide' on it's own.
I remember some months ago there was a lady on this site who was threatening suicide and the lovely people on here listened to her and offered advice.The lady concerned stayed around on AB for a while but I haven't seen any posts from her recently so I hope she is ok.

At 5,500,000 articles, I wasn't going to read all the pages on UK suicide thrown up by Google...........
If Mike had then refined his search using whatever terms came into his head, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he was directed to AB.

If you can prove to us that Mike was a liar, Jayne, no 'gut-instinct' or 'use of syntax', just real old-fashioned proof, then I'm sure we will all apologise to you. But, for the moment, at least, I'm afraid you are going to have to consider yourself to be in a group of 1 on this matter.

the main concern i now have is that people who are feeling low or need help will not seek help on here incase they are given abuse.

if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.

i always try and give people the benift of the doubt just to be on the safe side

If you are looking for genuine help, you would not have skipped over all the genuine help sites until you stumbled across a recreational question and answer site.

At least, not if you were genuinely in despair and seeking help.

wll jayne i found this site 3 years ago when i was looking for help and didn't want to go to a professional person for help and this site is for real people with real advice not some toff in his office telling you sh!t

He didn't appear to want help though did he Jayne,he wanted to know if his chosen way of committing suicide would work. I know when I wanted to take my life I googled the way I wanted to do it(booze and pills) to see how many tablets I would need to take.Thankfully I was found before any lasting damage was done and I know that in future I would not allow myself to get to that point,I would seek help first.

Hold on, Doc. This isn't about liking or disliking Jayne, this is about agreeing or disagreeing with the comments she made on a thread last night.

Most people, on this thread, disagree with the flippant and offhand comments she made.

If you have saved someone's life yesterday, then you're a hero.

If you have fallen out with someone on this site because of a hoaxer, then you are a fool. That is probably what this person hoped to achieve.

Jayne - if you want to thrash about like a sulky child now, that's up to you. All I have done is try and point out that you are in the (substantial) minority on this subject; in a group of about 1 (or two now that Doc has kindly joined you).

If you wish to throw all of your toys out then by all means do, just don't then wonder why fewer people are crowding round your open wine-bottle..........
