I am aware that domestic dogs in Britain are responsible for a great deal of human illness. A long time ago I read an article describing research on toxicara canis and among other things it turns out that in Britain dozens of people (mainly children) per year suffer permanent loss of eyesight because of it. Does anyone know if any site(s) give a summary of all human diseases caused by dogs, their incidence, etc. ?

Sadly, my previous neighbour's son lost his eye due to contracting toxicara. He was just 5 years old & will never forget the heartache it caused. They always cleared up after their dog, but the consultant said it could have been residue left on the grass when he was playing football with his dad & brothers.

This is quite an informative site:

*toxocara

This is the site I meant to post, although I can't see a summary:

Well I personally think it's unhygenic keeping dogs in the home and allowing them to sit on furniture. However, I understand Britain is a nation of dog lovers.

People need to be more responsible dog owners and clear their dog's faeces up, especially from public places, where Children may play.
