Being nearly 50 (sob), I am getting some brown patches on my face. Not moles, just areas a bit darher than the rest.

I have tried nicking some face scrub from 'er indoors, but it doesn't shift them.

Any tips?

1. Put a paper bag over your head
2. Grow a beard
3. Move to a very hot country so your face will be brown all over
4. Try lemon juice - it's a natural bleach.

Tried a beard - I look ridiculous.

I did live in a very hot country for a while, and caught lots of sun - that may be the cause of the spots.

Was lemon juice a serious suggestion?

Perhaps the bag is my only answer.
Yes, the lemon juice is (the only) serious suggestion.
I had a few brown marks on my face when I was pregnant and it worked for me.

I guess you didn't fancy the beard either then.

Thanks
I am guessing they might be what is called "Liver Spots",nothing to do with the liver by the way, and quite harmless(if unsightly).
I have them on my hands and find that Evening Primrose cream (any cheap brand works) will bleach them out.
i used to suffer from brown spots on my face, but they went away after i stopped eating ''horse style out of the ''chocolate chip bowl!''
I have removed many types of lesions including one I had on my neck for 30 years by dabbing it with TCP. A number of applications were necessary and won't disappear overnight so be patient. The one on my neck has never returned after 5 years.
