Sore and swollen

hi guys for the last 2 weeks i have had very swollen and sore lips and its really painfull to talk,thought it was an allergic reaction to new make up brand but since stopped it I still look like ive had botox gone wrong,lips are quite hot and itchy too. Any ideas??

Sqad, do correct me if i'm wrong, but not sure hydrocortizone cream is a good thing to put on your lips as a) the skin on your lips is thin already and Hydrocortisone thins your skin and b) its not good to ingest the stuff which if you put it on your lips you will inevitably do!

Have you tried taking any antihstamine tablets? If it is an allergy, they should help bring the swelling down. YOu could also try wrapping ice cubes in a clean cloth/flannel, and holding them against your lips. It should help with the hot sensation, and may bring the swelling down too.

Answer...lips contain skin and mucous membrane and hence softening affect would be minimal.

The amount of hydrocortisone ingested would be negligable as it wouldbe absorbed by the lips.

1% hydrocortisone cream is not a strong concentration.

But..........I like your answer the better.

piriton antihistamine tablets - worked for me when my eyes swelled up and were painful - ask the pharmacist - good luck

connemmara is quite but you can get also antihistamine cream.........phenergan cream.

The advantage of this is you do not get the generalised side affects of the antihistamine e.g.drowsiness.
