Perhaps I am worrying unduly about this. An old friend of mine just called and asked me if I would consent to be the executor of his will. We talked about a few things and he said he had been feeling unwell over the last few days and this is what has prompted it. His symptoms are pain centred round his heart. He is in town at the moment and was going to pop round but said on his way into town he felt the pain and a real tightness in his chest. I told him NOT to come round and get himself either to his doctors asap. He is 43, quite overweight, drinks quite a lot and leads a sedentary life style.

Am I worrying unduly? Should I just go collect him and get him down the hospital?

sorry barmaid, Im not squad, but Id say take him to a&e.
It could be trapped wind, but could also be a number of more serious things.
drag him down there!
I agree with red, go get him and take him
Doesn't sqad play snooker on Thursdays?
Sounds like either indigestion or angina.I would take him to A&E as soon as possible just to be on the safe side!
Concur with rinkins- chest pains are something that need checking out straight away. Let us know how you got on, please.

Now I'm in bits. Still trying........

(Typical bloody bloke though, phones up to chat about his will and not even thought about dealing with the main problem first!!!! Pains in his chest and he phones me for a chat and says he might think about getting his hair cut. ffs)

Panic over. He got my increasingly desperate messages and got himself to A&E. He is now stripped to the waist and waiting for a nurse to do an ECG.
Sorry not to be here when you needed me.
A&E is the correct place.
Keep me informed.

Lost at snooker=bad mood.

How did your trip go?
P.S Barmaid....NHS Direct is a waste of time and money.
I agree Sqad about NHS Direct - the money would be better spent on more staff at A & E to cut waiting times down.

You do have a life Sqad! He is OK - apparently the ECG didn't show anything bad but they have done blood tests and blood pressure and lord knows what else.

As for me, Doc suggested it is a cyst although is not sure, but said that there was clearly something going on which he would like a specialist to see. I have been referred to the breast clinic, but not fast tracked so clearly he is not too worried.

But thanks for your advice and support. BMx
That's the second chest pain panic I have seen on here lately. I'm glad he's ok and in the hospital.

Sorry to hear about your news though and I hope it gets sorted soon x
Thanks Barmaid.
am glad he decided to get himself checked over barmaid. He got seen very quickly, considering what hospital it was (i take its the one where you live) they are not always that quick there.

Hospitals tend to be really good with chest pain.

Mine drove me mad until I could tell what it was, firstly with really bad acid reflex and more recently as my ribs tend to pop out of place and bits swell up and have had a few scary moments.

I was lucky as my GP was just up the road from work and we have a walk in centre so didn't have to trouble A&E most times. Had some random suggestions but they always ruled out heart problems which was the main thing.

Always best to get checked out.
