do you have swine flu then?
My niece's daughter had tamiflu, and started to get better within 24 hours, so I think there is something in it.
Unless it wasn't really swine flu, as she wasn't tested, just prescribed the tamiflu.

zzxxee....No.
why would you use antibiotics? antibiotics are overused as it is, im sure in serious cases where complications occur maybe but not as general practice.
Antibiotics are no good at all for fighting a viral infection, like swine flu.

Antibiotics only work on a bacterial infection.
....I can hear googling...
Is this some sort of test?
Question Author
Jake....LOL
Neither......unless complications or secondary bacterial infection sets in.
im a bit confused with your post do you mean which one is more effective?
or something else?
Sqad is testing us zzxxee. He is trying to lord his supposedly superior medical knowledge over us all ;-)

rollo........

"Antibiotics are no good at all for fighting a viral infection, like swine flu.
Antibiotics only work on a bacterial infection."

Yepp! I have got that.

BUT....Off hand, I can think of 3 other medical conditions and there may be more, which have the same symptoms of H1N1 infection.

1) Bacterial middle ear disease.
2) Meningococcal meningitis
3) Pertussis (Whooping cough)

All the above 3 require ANTIBIOTICS.

Now a child with H1N1 symptoms MAY have another disease which could be bacterial, as no Dr examines the patient and H1N1 is only diagnosed by assumption.

Now I ask again:

H1N1 Tamiflu or Antibiotics or Both

oooh i see your point, sqad!

its just as i keep saying, how do we really know whether people have swine flu, or hayfever, cold or anything else.
Not sure how they can diagnose fully whenh so many people are phoning GPs and helplines etc and those with signs of the flu are banned from surgerys
Question Author
redcrx.........10 out of ten....you are the first person to understand my question.

Sqad - have you been sniffing the surgical spirit again ??
Question Author
DEN......maybe....but you haven't answered my question....only redcrx has seen it's significance.

Also....no answer from daffy as yet.
